National barbeque champion Rob Magee will serve his award-winning fare for the public when his restaurant Q39 opens Saturday. Located in Kansas City, Mo.’s 39th Street neighborhood, Q39 will offer barbeque-inspired wood-fire grilled dishes in the city’s first open barbeque kitchen.

Q39The restaurant is the concept of Rob and his wife, Kelly. The Magee’s, along with their competitive barbeque team, Munchin’ Hogs, hold dozens of first place awards for original barbeque from competitions across the country and two championships from the Kansas City Barbecue Society.

Q39 chicken wings Nearly all the items on Q39′s menu are contest award-winning dishes. Starters include barbeque sliders, cheese fondue, spiced onion straws and chicken wings (pictured above). The kitchen will also serve barbeque-inspired sandwiches, competition barbeque plates, brisket burgers and wood-fired grilled plates featuring steak and seafood. Guests can also take home Rob’s famous barbeque sauces in classic, honey glaze and zesty for $7.50 per bottle.

Q39 Smoky Bee's Knees

 

Q39 houses a full-service bar, serving original cocktails and local craft beer and wine. Pictured above is the Smoky Bee’s Knees ($9) made with the restaurant’s special house smoked honey, gin and lemon juice.

The restaurant will feature a separate to-go area for carryout orders, additional space for private parties and a garage door near the bar that can be raised during nice weather.

Q39 will be open Sunday through Thursday 11 a.m. – 10 p.m. and Friday and Saturday 11 a.m. – 11 p.m.
