Stock Hill and Q39 announce the hiring of prominent KC culinary pros.
After the quick closing of República and opening of new concept The Oliver, Bread & Butter Concepts continues to have a busy summer. The restaurant group just announced Joe West as the executive chef of Stock Hill, a steakhouse at 4800 Main Street set to open in late 2016.
West previously served as the executive chef at 801 Fish before creating his pop-up concept Kusshi. The chef started his career working under Michael Smith and Debbie Gold at 40 Sardines and spent three years as chef de cuisine at Bluestem.
“Kansas City is known for its steakhouses and is currently missing out on the unique, non-traditional steakhouse experience that Stock Hill will provide,” West said in a statement. “I consider my cooking style to be fresh and whimsical and feel that Stock Hill is going to align quite well with my style.”
West will begin working at Bread & Butter Concepts on the menu research and development in early July.
Another acclaimed member of KC’s food and drink community is also making moves and heading to Q39. Award-winning bartender Jenn Tosatto, an alum of the Rieger Hotel Grill & Exchange and Dempsey’s Burger Pub, is taking over as bar manager July 5. Tasked with building a competition-level bar to match the award-winning barbecue, Tosatto will be building the program with chef-owner Rob Magee and coordinating cocktails, wine and beer selections with the restaurant’s flavors.
The announcement comes on the heels of news Q39 will expand the bar and restaurant at its original 39th Street location and open a second location in Johnson County in early 2017.
