Out with the old and in with the new—menu items, that is.
What would summer dining be without barbeque, the most quintessential cuisine of the season? Fortunately Q39 updated its lineup in honor of one year in business with soon to be favorites such as smoked fried chicken drizzled with chipotle barbeque sauce, the Mr. Burns, a brisket sandwich with chipotle sauce, jalapeno cheese and onion straws, and the Oink ‘n’ Cluck burger, a house-made chipotle sausage patty between two Farm To Market Bread Co. buns topped with an egg over easy. Satisfy your sweet tooth after dinner with the warm chocolate brownies served with vanilla bean ice cream, chocolate sauce, caramel and pecans.
The new seasonal additions to RA’s menu are perfect for summer—light, fresh and packed with flavor. Red Seabream shines in the carpaccio starter, where the fish in topped with a spicy yuzu dressing and truffle salt. Fans of the restaurant’s take on ships and salsa , with wonton chips and spiny tuna tartare mixed with cucumber and avocado, will love the Tuna California Roll, inspired by the flavorful blend. But our favorite rookie just might be the Langostino Strawberry Salad, which marries succulent langostino with strawberries, cucumbers and avocado over arugula for the ideal summer salad. RA also introduced two new sakes and three creative libations: the Peach Basil Sour, the Hot Tropics Margarita (shaken with mango puree and served with a chili-salted rim) and the Pear & Lemon Blossom, a tasty pear-infused lemonade.
Here’s added incentive to try the new dishes: RA is hosting its annual Nicky’s Week fundraiser for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital now through Sunday, May 31. Order Edamame, Tootsy Maki, Shrimp Nigiri, Pork Gyoza, Sesame Garlic Chicken, Garlic Citrus Yellowtail and select beverages and 100 percent of proceeds will be donated.
German gem Affäre also has a pretty compelling reason to make a lunch date soon: Its new lunch dishes, some of which are only $10. We can’t wait to try the Käsespätzle, homemade Spätzle, chorizo, onions, chicken broth and a four-cheese blend. The Crossroads eatery is also serving up eight new cocktails. The Porch Swing, made with Hayman’s Gin, Pimm’s and Kölsch is best enjoyed on the courtyard.
How do you make Parisi coffee even better? Pair it with a dulce de leche brownie, now available at the cafes. You’ll also find double chocolate croissants, strawberry and banana nut muffins, peach brown butter scones, pretzel chocolate chunk cookies (a tasty blend of sweet and salty flavor) and flourless chocolate walnut cookies in the bakery. New drinks include coffee soda—a fruity, single origin brew complemented by toasty turbinado syrup and orange, citrus accents and topped with sparkling water—fresh squeezed lemonade, sparkling elderflower lemonade and strawberry rhubarb Italian soda.
Eating your way through The Farmhouse’s new menus might take awhile. Dishes include fried green tomatoes with house giardiniera, a ham and egg salad sandwich on rye, a pulled pork sandwich with apple fennel slaw, a rosemary lamb sausage sandwich with mint yogurt sauce, vegan chickpea sandwich, chicken Chile burger with roasted poblano pepper sauce and a triple decker grilled cheese, among others. The restaurant also has fresh brunch offerings, such as a BELT (bacon, eggs, lettuce and tomato, naturally), frog legs and waffles and strawberry French toast.
In addition to its crazy good burger menu, Tannin brings the flavor with new dinner items such as Cumin Spiced Soft Shell Crab served with avocado, sautéed peppers and onions, salsa and tortillas; Roasted Free Range Chicken Breast alongside Brussels sprouts, oyster mushrooms and an herb pan jus; and Roasted Rainbow Trout with Kalamata olives, tomato and basil saffron rice, Israeli feta and chermoula. The Crossroads favorite also has a new list of Róse wines, which includes two sparkling varieties perfect for summer.
